Known for its connection to the occult and the pursuit of the perfecting the humanities.  What the ink kingdom lack in scientific studies it makes up in their studies of literature, philosophy, and the arts.  The Inklings believe that if one is to achieve a well-rounded education, one must become well versed in the previous mentioned subjects.

Spirituality In The Ink Kingdom

The Ink kingdom is also rich in tradition and superstition.  The people of the ink kingdom have a strong connection to their own mysterious source of magic.  The Ink people claim that this is due to their strong connect to the spirits that created them and the world those spirits inhabit.  According to the Inking’s beliefs, the Inklings were the product a spirit’s wager, and that the spirit granted its creations access to means of protecting themselves.  In the Inklings’ belief system, this explains why a portion of their citizens possess the ability to use magic.   Tiny shrines are sprinkled throughout ink kingdom, as the ink people believe that they serve as a form of hospitality to the spirits, offering them a place to rest.  Some inklings are so devoted to these spirits that they dedicate their lives to maintaining these shrines and leaving offerings to the spirits. The Inklings believe they have a very close connection to this spirit world, and they hold festivals at times of the year that they believe the veil between the two worlds become thinner.

Magic In the Ink Kingdom

As for the type of magic used, the Ink Kingdom generally splits magic users into four different categories.  Those of the first category of magic are known as the common magic users.  These people have born magical talents, very ordinary and small.  For example:  good luck, being especially good at finding lost objects, never tangling thread, seeing in the dark, being instant good at a musical instrument, always having a good hair day, that kind of stuff.  This is the most common form of magic in the kingdom

The next category is the practical magic user.  Like the common magic users, these are people with specific magical talent.  These are more of your healers, psychics, fortune tellers, peeps who can make plants grow on command.  These talents tend to lead the user to a career.   For example, those who possess magic dealing with predicting numbers tend to become as bankers and accountants, those with combat suited magic are recruited for the guard, and so on.

The next tier of magic users is those of scholarly magic sect.  This is the category that the mages fall under.  These are the magic users that are born with a raw magic that must be trained and shaped.  Each mage must be taught by a certified mage, as the law of the Mage’s guild and the law of the ink kingdom commands.  (Of certain circumstances that require the court mages to deliberate on.)   The court mages serve as advisors to the Queen and are the head of the guild.  They are the ones who oversee the other magic users.

The last category of magic user is the dark magic users.  They are the practices of the dark arts and are outlaws.  These are the people who keep the underbelly of the ink kingdom thriving.  The practice and sell magic that has been forbidden by the court mages.  Anyone who deals in black magic automatically has a price on their head.

The Gutter

Unseen to outsiders, foreigners are clueless to the darker side to the ink kingdom.  The ink kingdom’s underbelly is home to the ink kingdom’s less savory citizens.  Hidden, the dark mages, crooks, gangs, and other criminals live and conduct their shady businesses away from the eyes of the guard and court mages.  The ink kingdom’s black market is actually one of the biggest exports of dark magic and other outlawed objects.  But of course it is not really spoken of, those of power do their best to try and stop them, but in the meantime everything is kept hush hush, as to not harm the kingdom’s reputation with outsiders.  But it is particularly difficult to catch these thugs, considering that dark mages are very go at staying hidden.  This part of the kingdom is usually referred to as the Gutter.

Exports
-Top Quality writing and drawing Ink (of course)
-textiles and tapestries
-transcripts and other volumes and writing
-Magical Merchandise the illegal kind too if you ask the right people

Animals
Most of the critters are made of a magic ink-like substance.  They have a harder time keeping their solid than the Inklings do, so the are quite drippy and leave little trails of ink, but the trails tend to evaporate pretty quickly. When hurt, scared, sad, or tired it becomes very difficult for the ink creatures to hod their solid state, and tend to become more drippy and melty.  When really frighten or sad, the ink creatures can turn into a puddle, but can eventually regain their solid state.  They turn into a puddle and evaporate when they die.  Most of the ink animals take the forms of other normal animals, but there are some that a mix of different species.  Of course there are other animals that have been introduced into the ink kingdom's ecosystem, but these guys are indigenous to the ink kingdom.  Most of their diets vary, however most find tidbits of paper to be really treats.  (Best to keep them away from important documents. uvu )
Some Examples.
